Core Facilities-Institute for Applied Life Sciences
The UMass campuses maintain a series of core equipment facilities managed by experienced professional directors/managers. Core Equipment Facilities represent a unique resource for faculty research, for student training, and for the use of government, industry partners and collaborators. These facilities will enable faculty, student, and collaborators to access a broad array of equipment to enhance their capabilities, address a broader array of questions, deliver technologies and product candidates more rapidly, and make them more competitive for obtaining state, federal, foundation, and private funding.
UMass Amherst will operate more than 30 core facilities, many of which are housed in the new Life Sciences Laboratory (LSL2) building. Many of these facilities will advance the Institute’s goals to support high quality research and advance translational programs towards novel drug targets, drug delivery technologies, personalized healthcare devices, nutraceuticals, and technologies – all to enhance human health and well-being. The overall Core Facility infrastructure was made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Life Science Center.
