Elizabeth Sloan
Dr. Sloan has created highly successful produce marketing campaigns contributing to quadrupling the sales of kiwifruit globally; skyrocketing sales of sweet potatoes and ensuring produce an integral role in the fast-emerging cosmeceutical segment. Her company, Sloan Trends, Inc. is a California-based consulting firm that offers trend-tracking and predictions, strategic counsel and business-building ideas for food, nutritional supplement and food service/restaurant marketers.
As a former editor of two of America’s largest women’s magazines, she has experience communicating with millions of consumers. Dr. Sloan was formerly Editor-in-Chief of McCall's magazine; Director of the Good Housekeeping Institute, famous for its Good Housekeeping Seal, and Asst. Editor-in-Chief of Good Housekeeping magazine; SVP and International Director of Food and Nutrition of Hill and Knowlton Public Relations; the first Scientific Director of the Am. Assoc. of Cereal Chemists and Director of Nutrition Communications and Technical Services for General Mills.
Dr. Sloan has served as Editor-in-Chief of Cereal Foods World and Cereal Chemistry and marketing columnist for Food Business, Food Engineering, Processed Prepared Foods and Food Product Development. She has co-authored two college text books on nutrition, more than 400 articles on consumers/food and nutrition marketing, and has appeared on many radio and television programs, including The Today Show, Good Morning America and CBS and NBC newscasts.
She has a B.S. in Food Science from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition and Journalism/Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota.
