Often referred to as the "front porch" of the university, the Department of Athletics seeks to provide a world-class experience for our student-athletes while instilling pride and camaraderie in all who follow us. As one of the nation’s top public research universities, it is critical that we continue to develop our athletic program along the same trajectory as the academic component of the flagship institution.

As the director of athletics, I endeavor to place our student-athletes in the best position for sustained success in the classroom, on the playing surface, and in the community. We want our alumni, students, faculty, staff, and all who follow the university to have a deep sense of pride when they see the maroon and white in competition. Successful athletics programs achieve great heights with the help of those inside and outside the organization. Our goal is to create a steadfast base of support that achieves success together and embraces our role as the Commonwealth’s flagship athletic program.

In the ever-changing world of intercollegiate athletics, we will never waver in our mission to provide a world-class experience and position UMass Athletics as a regionally dominant and nationally prominent program. We will define our success not just by wins and championships, but by our impact in helping young men and women grow academically, athletically, and socially. Quite simply, the life-changing experience we provide will prepare our young people for success in life after they leave Amherst.

I am proud to serve the Commonwealth, our student-athletes, coaches, and staff as the director of athletics and look forward to celebrating our many successes together. Go UMass!
