CESL Director / Associate Professor of Architecture
Joseph directs the CESL office and works to promote civic engagement and service-learning initiatives across campus and throughout western Massachusetts. He represents CESL in numerous committees on and off campus and co-coordinates the CESL Faculty Fellows program.
Eva Friedman Hull
Eva manages enrollments, finance, personnel, and all of the other odds and ends that help an office work.
Lecturer / The Boltwood Project Program Director
Ellen serves as faculty coordinator for a student-run service-learning program—The Boltwood Project—and teaches courses for the Community Scholars Program (CSP). She also co-coordinates the CESL Faculty Fellows program for faculty who wish to design and teach a UMass-designated civic engagement or service-learning course.

Deborah oversees the Community Scholars Program (CSP) and teaches courses both in the CSP and in CESL more broadly.
Community Partnership Coordinator
Chris's work with CESL focuses on building and sustaining reciprocal relationships with our community partners.
CEPS Certificate and Undergraduate Advisor
Kris advises students in the Civic Engagement and Public Service (CEPS) certificate program and the CivX track of the Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration (BDIC), as well as oversees CESL's outreach and undergraduate advising.
Katja Hahn D'Errico
Lecturer / IMPACT Program Director
Katja coordinates the IMPACT RAP (Residential Academic Program) for first-year students, a one-year program that brings together social justice theory, mindfulness practices, and service-learning. Katja received the Distinguished Community Engagement Award for Teaching in 2018.
Terrell is the project assistant for CESL. He supports course management for the Civic Engagement and Public Service Certificate, collaborates with the community partnership coordinator, collects data, and develops reports.
