Organizing and training college students to solve some of the world's most pressing issues.

MASSPIRG is a statewide nonprofit organization that has been working to make social change at UMass Amherst since 1972. It organizes and trains college students to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues, such as environmental protections, voter registration, affordable education, and hunger and homelessness. For over 40 years, MASSPIRG Students have been making a real difference on issues and winning concrete victories to build a better world (see website). Both here on campus and out in communities, MASSPIRG mobilizes students to investigate big social problems, come up with practical solutions, convince the media and public to pay attention, and get decision-makers to act on behalf of the public.
