Joseph directs the CESL office and works to promote civic engagement and service-learning initiatives across campus and throughout western Massachusetts. He represents CESL in numerous committees on and off campus and co-coordinates the CESL Faculty Fellows program.

Ellen serves as the Academic Director for a student-run service-learning program—The Boltwood Project—and teaches Learning through Community Engagement, an introductory service learning course, as well as senior capstone classes.
