"CSP has taught me that if you're looking out for the community, then that’s in a lot of ways looking out for yourself as well."

CESL Program: Community Scholars Program
Major: Economics
When I first heard about CESL, I thought that the civic engagement component was really cool and how you go out into the community and you apply what you’re learning in class.
Within CSP, I love our class discussions. It’s so natural the way everyone interacts with each other, especially because it’s over the course of two years, so you really get to know each other really well, and everyone’s personality comes out in discussion in the best way possible.
I’ve always thought that I needed to look out for myself and my family, but I think CSP has taught me that if you're looking out for the community, then that’s in a lot of ways looking out for yourself as well. I never thought about success as a community effort, and that is something I’ll definitely take going away from CESL.
