I chose to join CESL because I wanted to learn more about social change both in an academic setting and in a practical setting. I especially liked the idea of working with a community partner and becoming a more active and civically engaged member of the broader Amherst community.
My favorite part about being involved with CESL is definitely the relationships it fosters. From my experiences so far in CSP, I’ve come to deeply appreciate Deborah and her uniquely effective pedagogy, my peers, and all the Amherst community members I’ve met through my volunteer work.
My work with CESL has fundamentally altered the ways in which I approach my relationship with work and conceptualize my role in movements for social change. CSP has helped me to realize that my passion lies in the realms of clean energy policy and environmental justice.
