Assistant Teacher Student Employment
The Center for Early Care and Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks students to work alongside our professional staff as assistant teachers in toddler and preschool classrooms. We look for students who are interested in participating in the daily work of providing high quality early education and care to the young children and families served by CEEC.
Assistant teachers participate in a number of training activities each semester in order to learn about CEEC and the Project Approach.
Professional teachers also provide individualized direction and coaching on a day-to-day basis in order to enable assistant teachers to learn and practice these new skills. Assistant teachers are encouraged to enroll in the Child Growth and Development and Introduction to Early Childhood Education courses offered at the university in order to deepen their knowledge of these areas.
We welcome your application if you are looking for a challenging and fascinating job, and if you are interested in learning about how children think and learn, and how teachers support and enhance children’s learning.
