Dempsey Opportunity Fund for BDIC

Supports BDIC students pursuing internships in their area of concentration. Students may apply in the spring of their freshman, sophomore, or junior year.

Evans Family Scholarship in Environmental Conservation

Supports CHC students who have demonstrated exemplary work on any aspect of the environment in their academic work. Students may apply in the spring of their freshman, sophomore, or junior year.

Building and Construction Technology Alumni Scholarship for Leadership

Awarded to one rising junior or rising senior who is a BCT major and (1) has a GPA of 3.2 or better, (2) has exhibited leadership in extracurricular activities, such as having an influential role in one or more student groups, and (3) has worked in an industry-related internship. Applicants must provide two references: one academic reference and one nonacademic reference.

Ned Taft Internship Fund in Environmental Science 

Supports internships and independent studies in or related to environmental science. The purpose of the fund is to give qualifying undergraduate or graduate students the opportunity to work with professionals in the field and to further critical research efforts, especially in aquatic ecology. Qualified students should have an interest in applied science, policy, or engineering aspects with a strong environmental component, particularly with respect to aquatic resources or ecosystems. First preference will be given to students interested in fisheries, fish movements and behavior relevant to development or restoration projects (e.g., hydropower, passage systems, water withdrawals, river fragmentation, river restoration, etc.). Prospective candidates should have strong backgrounds and previous coursework in one or more of the following areas: biology and ecology, hydrology, aquatic systems and resources, toxicology, environmental policy, or environmental engineering. Some academic experience in quantitative methods or computer analysis of data, and/or field or lab experience in aquatic systems is desirable. Applications from students should include identification of potential internships, time frame, documentation of appropriate background and interests, and a statement of purpose.

Summer Forest Research Internship Fund

Supports students with field research experience and training associated with research projects on forest plants or forest wildlife. Recipients will be chosen based on the potential of a student to benefit from the internship and cumulative GPA. Internships are not limited to students in the Department of Environmental Conservation.

SBS Internship Scholarship Funding

Supports SBS students who will complete internships during the summer or fall ’19 semester. Candidates must be in good academic standing with at least 45 credits. Preference will be given to students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Students can apply for funding regardless of whether they have received confirmation of acceptance to their internship. Students who are awaiting formal confirmation of internships at the time of application must show documentation of their offers prior to dispersal of an award.

Christopher C. Gardner Internship Award

Supports SBS students who are conducting an internship abroad or with an international company with offices in major US cities or conducting an internship in the technology or E-commerce industries. Preference will be given to students with confirmed offers from employers but students who are awaiting formal confirmation may still apply. Internship must be confirmed to receive the award.

Connor Internship                                

Supports SBS students who will complete internships during the summer or fall semester. Candidates must be in good academic standing with at least 45 credits. Preference for students with high and medium need as determined by the financial aid office. Preference will be given to students with confirmed offers from employers but students who are awaiting formal confirmation may still apply. Internship must be confirmed to receive the award.

Crowley Family Scholarship for Veterans

Provides scholarship support for rising sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Eligible recipients will have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and will have been honorably discharged from active duty with the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or from the National Guard if they have been activated and deployed to a combat area. Preference will be given to students who have served in a combat zone also for those who intend to pursue a career in criminal justice upon graduation.

Elaine E. Nord Internship Fund for Creative Communications

Support an internship in a mass-communications field, with preference given to a student whose work focuses on the use of technology to create media content, documentary or other forms of video production, or the field of photography. The goal of this internship will be to develop necessary skills, experiences, and networking opportunities for undergraduates in the Department of Communication. Candidates must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

F. Ward McCarthy Scholarship for Interns

Awarded to Economics majors with confirmed summer internships and demonstrated need. Preference is given to applicants with unpaid internships. Applicants must submit documentation substantiating a pre-arranged internship as well as an estimated budget.

Sociology Summer Internship Award

Supports Sociology majors who are planning to complete internships over summer 2019. Candidates must be in good academic standing with at least 45 credits completed by the end of the spring. Preference will be given to students with confirmed offers from employers, but students who are awaiting formal confirmation may still apply. All internships must be confirmed by the employer to receive the award and internships must be conducted and completed to retain the award.

Vogel Internship

Provides financial support to an SBS student who secures an unpaid/low paid internship in Washington DC. Preference is given to students who are currently participating in or have completed the UMass Women into Leadership program.

Frank Rife Kinesiology Opportunity Scholarship

Support undergraduate students’ internship expenses for both domestic and international internship opportunities. Eligible recipients must maintain a 3.2 GPA. Preference will be given to first generation students and students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. At the end of the internship, students must provide a written evaluation of their experiences demonstrating how the internship shaped their future professional plans.
