Registering an Internship for Credit

Internships are professional experiences you may engage in while a student at UMass Amherst. While completing an internship, you may elect to obtain academic credit through UMass at the same time, if your degree program allows it. Follow the steps below to submit an Experiential Learning Request in SPIRE, which starts the process to get you registered for credit. If you have any questions, reach out to the Field Experience Program Manager for assistance.

If you are looking to register for co-op status, visit the Co-op Status Guide.
