Curriculum Vitae Guide

When applying for jobs, you may see the terms resume or curriculum vitae used interchangeably. While both are important tools for applying for jobs, there are significant differences between the two.

What is a Curriculum Vitae?

The term curriculum vitae (CV) is used in the United States to refer to a job application document that focuses on your academic achievements. Where a resume will typically be a brief summary of any relevant experience you have when applying for a position, a CV is a collection of all your academic experiences in certain categories.

Note that curriculum vitae is also used around the world, where it may be used to represent the same document as a resume.
