UMass Amherst graduates (alumni) have a six month grace period following their graduation during which they may use all career services’ resources campuswide – speak with a career advisor, take advantage of walk-In hours to work with a staff member, open a credentials file, maintain an account on Handshake, attend workshops and career fairs, and participate in on-campus interviewing.
After that six month grace period (depending on major), UMass Amherst alumni should contact the UMass Alumni Association for additional career guidance.
UMass Amherst alumni will automatically be given account access in Handshake for their first two years after graduation, logging in with their SPIRE NetID and SPIRE password. Alumni who graduated more than two years ago are welcome to open an account on Handshake where they can access job listings and find out about upcoming career fairs. Sign up for an account on the login page (you'll find the "sign up here" link at the top right of the page).
We are pleased to provide access to Career Shift, an additional resource for our students and alumni to search for additional Human Resources contacts and leads for companies.
Alumni may also attend our workshops, utilize our Credentials Service for five years after graduation, and may use our computer lab to access the Internet and print out resumes for their job hunt. After the initial 3-6 months, alumni can access additional tools maintained by the UMass Alumni Association, including:
The UMass Amherst Alumni Advisor Network through which you can receive free career services from UMass Amherst alumni in various fields
Referrals to Professional Career Counselors via the Alumni Association
