Facility Operations Assistant

Positions filled
Provide customer service to participants to ensure a safe & enjoyable experience. Enforce Campus Recreation policies & procedures. Maintain cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment. Manage towels and day-use lock operations. Perform laundry services and light janitorial work. Collect and document lost-n-found items. Issue, collect and maintain recreation sports equipment. Set up and take down free-play equipment. Tend to accident and/or emergency situations. Serve as liaison between recreation participants and Campus Recreation staff. Other duties as assigned. Weekday morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts available. Qualifications: work study strongly preferred, good communication skills.

Group Fitness Instructor

Positions filled
Lead group fitness classes for the University community. Class formats include: Boot Camp, Cardio Kickboxing, Zumba®, Spinning®, Pilates, TRX, Cardio Sport® and Yoga. Assist with maintenance of equipment. Enforce facility and program policies. Qualifications: ability to conduct safe and effective classes, knowledge of strength training and cardiovascular exercise, good communication skills, national fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA or equivalent), adult CPR/AED. Audition required.

Lifeguard

Positions filled
Provide customer service to pool users to ensure a safe & enjoyable experience. Enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures. Ensure participant admission with proper ID and validation through Recreation Center member management system and the University's UCard database. Maintain cleanliness and safety of pools and equipment. Tend to accident and/or emergency situations. Serve as liaison between recreation participants and Campus Recreation staff. Other duties as assigned. Weekday morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours available. Qualifications: current lifeguard, first aid, adult CPR/AED certification required, work study preferred, good communication skills.

Member Services Assistant

Positions filled
Serve as front-line resource for inquiries and be the face of Department. Provide excellent customer service to promote a positive first impression. Enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures. Serve as liaison between recreation participants and Campus Recreation staff. Qualifications: excellent communication, administration, professionalism and confidence. Nutrition Advising Assistant  (3-credit independent study)

Positions filled (Must attend a Campus Recreation employment session in November or April/dates TBA)
The nutrition advising assistant 3-credit independent study with Campus Recreation is an option for Nutrition majors who are in their sophomore year or higher. The independent study is a competitive program to which students can apply each semester in April and November if positions are available. Upon successful completion of the independent study and upon invitation, students may apply to be a nutrition advisor with Campus Recreation for the upcoming semester. Qualifications: Nutrition majors only, UMNA members preferred, good communication skills.

 

Personal Trainer

Accepting applications
Develop personalized, safe and effective exercise programs for patrons of various fitness levels. Conduct and assess health and fitness screenings. Provide safe and effective instruction in cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Conduct equipment orientations. Enforce facility and program policies. Qualifications: experience in developing comprehensive, customized exercise programs, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, knowledge of strength & aerobic training, flexibility, exercise selection & training intensity and duration, good communication skills, national fitness certification (NASM, ACSM, ACE, ISSA, AFAA), adult CPR/AED.  You will be contacted to schedule an interview if you meet all of the criteria for employment, your application is complete and you have attached the required documentation.

Swim Instructor

Positions filled
Provide individual instruction for varying ages to the campus community. Educate participants on proper technique and promote swimmer safety. Design individualized programs to meet the participant's interests, abilities and goals. Provide lesson plans as appropriate. Conduct swim tests as required. Submit and maintain skill sheets, lesson logs and attendance information. Enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures. Ensure participant admission with proper ID and validation through Recreation Center member management system. Maintain cleanliness and safety of pools and equipment. Tend to accident and/or emergency situations. Serve as liaison between recreation participants and Campus Recreation staff. Weekday morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours available. Qualifications: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred, current lifeguard, first aid, adult CPR/AED certification required, previous swim instruction experience required, proficient in swimming strokes, knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills in lessons instruction and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, pull buoys, etc., ability to work independently, strong communication and customer service skills.
