The recent directive to self-sequester may present financial hardships for students who rely on income from their employment. As a result, the University has set up a Student Employment Assistance Grant program to support students in need.
The deadline to apply for this grant is 5:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2021.
Who is eligible?
Students are eligible to apply for a Student Employee Assistance Grant if they meet the following criteria:
- Students are employed off-campus.
- Students are unable to work remotely during this temporary self-sequester period.
- (Students who work on-campus will be paid for their planned hours via payroll. Please contact your supervisor for more information.)
I have a job on campus. Can I apply?
University departments have been advised to allow for remote work during this time if practical. Students who are unable to perform their job duties remotely will be paid for those planned hours via payroll. Please contact your supervisor for more information.
Will the grant be used to pay my tuition balance?
No. Students who receive a Student Employment Assistance Grant will have that money refunded to them, regardless of balance. Students who wish to use that money to pay their tuition balance can make a payment online through QuikPAY once they have received the funds.
How will I receive my refund?
Students will receive their refund as a direct deposit to the bank account information listed in the University’s Excess Express program in SPIRE. Students should ensure that banking information is up to date and accurate by February 19, 2021.
How do I apply?
To apply for a Student Employment Assistance Grant, complete the Student Employment Assistance Grant Application. Submit it by 5:00 PM on February 19, 2021.
When will I receive my refund?
Grant funds will be distributed within 7 days of the application closing date which is February 19, 2021.
