The Budget Office regularly offers trainings through Workplace Learning & Development.  Visit the WL&D website to check for upcoming classes.

The training takes place usually in a series of three sessions that covers essential budgeting skills and responsibilities including campus practices for creating and monitoring a budget.

Training Session 1: Campus Budget Overview and Basic Financial Concepts

Budget Overview/Basic Finance: Basic budgeting concepts and terms, budget timelines, the structure and funding of the campus budget, and the basics of fund accounting.

Training Session 2: Budgeting and Accounting Practices

Campus Budget & Acctg Practice: Campus accounting terminology and practices, budgeting practices, and the budgeting/accounting calendar.

Training Session 3: Working with your Budget

Hands-on Manage Your Budget: Reading PeopleSoft financial reports, monitoring budget performance, doing trend analysis, and using tools and techniques for dealing with challenging budget situation
