The Budget Office regularly offers trainings through Workplace Learning & Development.  Visit the WL&D website to check for upcoming classes.

The training takes place usually in a series of three sessions that covers essential budgeting skills and responsibilities including campus practices for creating and monitoring a budget.

  • Session 1: Budget Overview/Basic Finance: Basic budgeting concepts and terms, budget timelines, the structure and funding of the campus budget, and the basics of fund accounting.
  • Session 2: Campus Budget & Acctg Practice: Campus accounting terminology and practices, budgeting practices, and the budgeting/accounting calendar.
  • Session 3: Hands-on Manage Your Budget: Reading PeopleSoft financial reports, monitoring budget performance, doing trend analysis, and using tools and techniques for dealing with challenging budget situation
