To improve consistency across print and digital applications, we have updated the digital values for UMass Maroon.
While the official UMass Maroon brand color remains unchanged, the digital hex value has been refined to better align with the approved Pantone PMS 202 standard and our printed brand materials.
Previously our digital maroon displayed slightly warmer tones that skewed more orange than the official coated brand color. Advances in digital color reproduction now allow us to more accurately represent the UMass Maroon experience across websites, emails, social media, and other digital platforms.
What Changed?
The UMass Maroon brand color has not changed.
The digital color values have been updated to more closely match PMS 202. The new RGB and HEX values are available on the Brand Colors page of the Brand Portal.
The change improves consistency between print and digital applications.
Why This Matters
A more accurate digital maroon strengthens brand recognition and ensures a cohesive visual experience across all UMass Amherst communications, regardless of platform.
Please begin using the updated digital color specifications in all new digital materials. Existing assets do not require immediate replacement and can be updated as part of normal content refresh cycles.
This is a phased transition for digital assets, which typically have minimal cost implications. As we operationalize this change over the next fiscal year, please prioritize the changes that fit your current budget and communications plans.
