All full-time tenure and non-tenure system UMass Amherst faculty are eligible to be nominated to be a Spotlight Scholar. The faculty members chosen "have demonstrated academic quality and leadership in research or creative activity". One of the spotlight scholars chosen for 2025-2026 period is Lynn Adler, a distinguished professor in the Biology Department.
Adler's lab conducts research on pollinators, pathogens, plants and their interactions. Her work has been supported by multiple organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
