To be chosen as a SpotLight Scholar, faculty members must be nominated and be ““working for positive social change through research, scholarship, and creative activity.” Lynn Adler’s research on pollinator health has implications not only for beekeepers but growers as well and takes place in both wild and agricultural systems.

Lynn Adler studies how flowers and floral traits mediate pollinator-pathogen interactions and pollinator health. Some examples of her research include discovering that sunflower pollen does an amazing job of reducing a gut pathogen in a common bumble bee species, and understanding how flowers structure transmission, and studying self-medicating behavior in bees.
