Elyse McCormick was awarded a Garden Club of America Centennial Pollinator Fellowship, which is a nationally competitive award for graduate students studying all kinds of pollinators (bees, butterflies, bats, birds, etc.). They typically award 3-4 per year. McCormick's project will look at how the protein and lipid content found in bumble bees' preferred pollen diets may influence infection in the common eastern bumble bee, and whether sick bees make diet choices that improve their health.
