Samuel Hazen is a professor in the Biology Department who studies plant genomics and underlying plant cell wall biosynthesis. Hazen and his team conducted research to show that the growth of grasses is dependent on temperature, not light. To do this, his team needed to create a custom real-time bioluminescence imaging system.
