The Podos lab are the first to comprehensively link bird songs’ pitch and volume, providing insight into bird evolution.

Undergraduate Ben Tang from the Karlstrom Lab and Postdoc Harshada Sant from the Katz lab were both chosen to give 2 minute “Fast Track” talks before presenting their posters at the annual Northeast Society of Developmental Biology (NESDB) meeting, which was held April 25-27, 2025 at the Marine Biological Laboratories (MBL) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

William I  has received the CESL Outstanding Undergraduate Community Engagement Group Award.

Akiko Okusu's BIOL 162H students presented their "Tale of Two Heads" research at MassURC.

These two papers describe new species of knifefishes from the Amazon basin. The Amazon supports about 3000 fish species, with new species being discovered on a regular basis.
