This endowed scholarship awards $1000 to a Biology Junior (at the time of application) who has demonstrated a strong passion for Life Sciences, especially in the context of lab or field-based research. The award was made possible by a generous gift from Dr. Gregory K. Maravelas ('62, Zoology), a long-time educator and strong supporter of the UMass biology department.

- Curriculum vitae/resume (no more than 2 pages)
- One letter of reference (this should be emailed directly to Dr. Gerson by the recommender, please do not only provide names)
- A one-page statement explaining your passion for biology, especially in the context of research. However, other experieces, such as classwork, community service, or biological experiences outside UMass, are also welcome.
