The department is proud to announce that our fall 2019 junior year
writing course will be taught by award winning author Molly B. Burnham.
A native of Washington DC, Molly grew up in the early hardcore and punk
scene of the 1980s before studying theater in London and going on to get
her Master’s degree in Elementary Education and an MFA in Writing for
Children. Molly has published three books in the Teddy Mars series, for
which she won the Sid Fleischman Humor Award in 2016. We are privileged
to have the opportunity to bring Molly to UMass for the fall semester,
as we believe her rich background and passion for writing will foster a
truly innovative, interdisciplinary writing course for BDIC students.
You can read more about Molly at her website:
As you likely know, BDIC 350 is a required course for BDIC primary
majors and fulfills the UMass Junior Year Writing requirement. It is
recommended that you take the course in your junior year to keep on
track with your expected graduation date. There are two sections
available for the fall: Tuesday and Thursdays from 1:00-2:15pm and
2:30-3:45pm. Each course has limited space available. If you would like
to take this course, please fill out the request at the link:
