How to Apply to BDIC

To be considered for admission into the BDIC major, you must first apply to take the two-credit Proposal Writing class (BDIC 396P). This class is where you will formulate your BDIC concentration in detail and choose the classes that will become your individualized course of studies. The earliest that you may take BDIC 396P is in the second semester of your freshman year.

Prospective students are encouraged to meet with a BDIC peer advisor to help you figure out whether BDIC is the right choice for you.

The prerequisites for applying to the Proposal Writing Class (BDIC 396) are as follows:

Completed or currently registered for at least 15 credits of coursework
A minimum GPA of 2.5
A brief essay on your intended area of study and proposed title
An unofficial transcript

Admission is competitive and is decided by a faculty committee based on your academic qualifications and your intended area of concentration.

Application Priority Deadlines:

BDIC is currently accepting applications for Fall 2025

The priority deadline for the Spring class is November 15, and for the Fall class is April 10.
After the priority deadline, applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until the proposal class is full.
