Dave Damery

Dave strove to accomplish the mission of the Building and Construction Technology Program by providing education and research in the areas of sustainable design and construction, efficient material use, Green Building technologies, and applied management in the building industry. He taught classes covering: The Built Environment, Business of Building and Building Materials and Forest Products Marketing. His research interests were in sustainable forest management, marketing, and forest economics. Dave’s work experience includes: engineering, business consulting, management and sales and marketing of forest products and building materials.
Paul Fisette

Paul Fisette was Associate Dean, College of Natural Sciences, past Head of the Department of Environmental Conservation and past Director of the Building and Construction Technology program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. He was a Professor of Building & Construction Technology, and a Professor of Architecture at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Professor Fisette’s research and professional focus involved the performance of building systems, energy efficient construction, sustainable building practices, and the performance of building materials. His primary interest was Green Building, which involves the sustainable integration of natural and built environments and has taught a variety of courses that focus on the performance of structures, materials and construction practices. He is expert in how moisture moves and influences buildings and occupancy. Professor Fisette has authored more than 200 published works regarding building science and construction technology. Previous to his position at UMass, he owned and operated a general contracting business and was senior editor with Progressive Builder Magazine, covering technical information and innovations of interest to residential building firms. Professor Fisette was a member of the National Academies Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment (BICE) for six years, served on several National Academies expert panels, is contributing editor with The Journal of Light Construction, is a member of the National Institute of Building Science, and has served on a variety of editorial and professional advisory boards.
R. Bruce Hoadley

Within this program, Bruce, had responsibility for wood anatomy and fundamental properties of wood, as well as basic processing technology. His research focused on wood identification and wood-moisture relationships, especially as related to dimensional change in wood. These and other areas of interest were explored in his two books, Understanding Wood and Identifying Wood, published by the Taunton Press; He was also a contributing editor and technical consultant for Fine Woodworking Magazine. Bruce taught an annual Wood Identification Workshop conducted through the Office of Continuing Education. As a professional consultant Bruce undertook the identification of wood in furniture and related decorative art objects in several major museums throughout the United States. He also served as a consulting forensic expert in civil and criminal cases involving wood products or wood related evidence.
