I would like to invite you to a lecture we are hosting this Friday as part of the semi-formal BCT lecture series on “Building with Wood”. First up in this lineup is Cassie Philips of Weyerhaeuser who will speak about sustainable forestry and forest products. In announcing this talk, I would like to acknowledge Ray Kinoshita Mann’s help (Department of Architecture) in bringing Cassie to UMass.

    Cassie Phillips, Vice President, Sustainable Forests & Products, Weyerhaeuser

Cassie Phillips is Vice President of Sustainable Forests & Products at Weyerhaeuser. Founded in 1900, Weyerhaeuser is a forest products company that primarily grows and harvests trees, builds homes and makes a range of forest products. It has operations in 10 countries and has customers worldwide. The Company’s business segments are Timberlands, which includes logs, chips and timber; Wood Products, which includes softwood lumber, engineered lumber, structural panels, hardwood lumber, and building materials distribution; Cellulose Fibers, which comprises pulp and liquid packaging board; Real Estate, which comprises real estate development, construction and sales, and Corporate and Other. The Company manages 22 million acres of forests.
