Kate​ Simons,Senior Pre-construction Manager, DOC

Lean construction is all about efficiency. Manufacturers and construction firms care about it because it has the potential to save firms time and money. This presentation will provide a broad overview of Lean Project Delivery and discuss why it’s needed, review the goals and benefits of implementation, and explore the shift in thinking and behaviors for lean practices to be successful.

Biography

Kate​ Simons is a Senior Preconstruction Manager at DOC. Before joining DOC Ms. Simons worked as a Project Manager in the Healthcare and Life Sciences Division at Shawmut Design and Construction and rose to become the Director of Scheduling and Controls for the New England Region. She managed the construction of both large and small Healthcare projects. Simons’ client experience includes Dana Farber and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical. Her experience also includes Construction Program Management for a Fortune-20 company where she worked on compliance-related construction projects and provided custom-built project schedule reporting and risk analysis/mitigation to all levels of the organization. A LEED and OSHA-certified construction supervisor, Simons is a summa cum laude graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Construction Management and an A.S. in Architectural Engineering.
