When historic and existing buildings suffer damage or destruction, the recovery and restoration process is often slow and challenging. This presentation introduces an effective methodology for expediting post-disaster assessment of structures by leveraging digital technology. Focusing on the Beirut Blast case study, it demonstrates the advantages of 3D image-based modeling in disaster recovery and decision-making. The talk also covers the use of AI and machine learning to assess the resiliency of masonry buildings and guide future retrofit decisions. Additionally, it discusses the automation of damage assessment on 3D point clouds, which accelerates emergency response and enhances the safeguarding of our built heritage.
