Heading to NYC for Thanksgiving 2024!
The UMass Marching Band went to Macy's Day Parade 2024! As each member worked hard and diligently to memorize and perfect their routines, before the parade, they took a moment to talk to UMass about how much the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade means to them.
Getting ready for our trip down to NYC
Leading up to the parade we were hard at work preparing this once in a lifetime trip where the UMMB showed NYC what UMass is all about!
We spent countless weeks preparing our technique and our music, getting it ready to bring to the streets of NYC.
Details about our trip!
The UMMB departed from UMass on Monday, November 25th and we made our way down to the Big Apple. Our band rehearsed in a bubble dome, hotel ballrooms, and on the streets of New York, of course making our way down to Herald's Square where we were broadcast on international television for millions to see!
Performing with the Carolina Band at Pier 16!
In addition to the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...we had something else in store.
We shared the stage not once, but twice with the University of South Carolina's "Carolina Band"! Both ensembles participated in a joint performance on November 27th, 2024 at Pier 16 near the South Street Seaport, as well as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade the following day.
Bob Rogers Travel
We partnered with Bob Rogers Travel to organize our trip down to NYC for Macy's 2024! We were excited to be sharing an incredible experience with a travel company that takes such good care of its clients. Back in 2017 the UMMB also partnered with BRT as we embarked on our journey to Pasadena, CA to march in The Tournament of Roses.
We are happy to have worked with them again, especially our amazing Travel Consultant, Tom Merrill.
