Save the Date: Astronomy Alumni Weekend 2026
October 23–24, 2026
We're excited to welcome our alumni back to campus for a weekend that celebrates the people, research, and community that make UMass Astronomy special.
Whether you graduated a few years ago or several decades ago, Astronomy Alumni Weekend is an opportunity to reconnect with classmates and faculty, see what's new in the department, meet today's students, and celebrate the remarkable community we've built together.
The weekend will feature:
Friday, October 23
- Graduate Student Three-Minute Research Competition (alumni invited to serve as judges)
- Welcome reception and dinner celebrating the past, present, and future of UMass Astronomy
- Evening public lecture followed by on-campus skywatching (weather permitting)
Saturday, October 24
- Research highlights showcasing current work in the department
- Alumni career panel and speed mentoring sessions connecting students with alumni across a wide range of careers
- Community picnic to continue conversations and build new connections
