2024 Doctoral Student Experiences Survey
The 2024 Doctoral Student Experiences Survey (DSES) was conducted in partnership with the Graduate School as a follow-up to the 2018 survey. In spring 2024, all UMass Amherst doctoral students (N = 2,529) were invited to participate and share feedback on their academic experiences, career interests and plans, engagement with the Graduate School’s Office of Professional Development, mentoring, and awareness of campus-based wellness resources. Campus and college/school-level dashboards are available to all trained users on Flagship Analytics.

2018 Doctoral Student Experiences Survey
In April 2018, all UMass Amherst doctoral students (N=2,449) enrolled in state-funded programs were invited to complete the survey. The survey was commissioned by the Dean of the Graduate School and designed in collaboration with ASER to gather information about students’ experiences in their programs of study and at UMass Amherst more broadly.
