Asian-Specific Scholarships

Ansin Study Abroad Fellowship for students with majors in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Deadline for summer and fall is in early April. Application available from School of Social & Behavioral Sciences website.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. First eligibility criteria: Must currently receive the Pell Grant. Online application must be reviewed by Education Abroad Advisor for Asia. On-campus deadlines are: Spring, mid-September, and early April.

National Security Education Program. Language study in Mandarin, Korean, etc.

Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship for Chinese Language Study. One scholarship for a UMass student applying to attend Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. Deadline for application is March 1.

Completing the Asian & Asian American Studies Certificate was one of my favorite experiences as an UMass student. I was always passionate about advocating for the Asian American population and the Certificate provided me with the right tools to further my studies. The Asian American Studies Certificate program inspired me to further my educational endeavors by strengthening my involvement with my major in Psychology, by influencing me to declare a minor in Sociology, and by convincing me to pursue a Masters degree in School Counseling with a concentration in Social Justice. I credit this program for helping me realize my passion and advocacy for Asian American and minority students everywhere, and I sincerely thank Professor Le and his Certificate program for truly embodying an all-inclusive empowerment of diversity, the type of diversity that represents UMass.
