Three undergraduates have been awarded Boren Scholarships by the Institute of International Education to support their study of foreign languages during the 2017-18 academic year. Junior Kaleigh Mency and sophomore Christopher Smith-Burks will study Mandarin in China, and junior Joseph Kerlin-Smith plans to study Amharic in Ethiopia. Boren Awards provide U.S. students with resources and encouragement to acquire language skills and experience in countries critical to the future security and stability of the nation.
