Jesse Watson specializes in the cultural history of imperial China with a focus on early empires, legal cultures, and materiality. He received his B.A. from Wesleyan University, his MA from Peking University, and his doctoral work has been at the University of California, Berkeley. His research has been supported by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Fulbright, and the U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) program, among others.
