Joint Majors with Linguistics

The East Asian Languages & Cultures Program at UMass Amherst offers joint majors with Linguistics.

Our program is the only one that offers such majors in New England and one of very few nationally. The joint majors provide students who are interested in the language itself with an opportunity to study Chinese or Japanese while exploring its position in the linguistic world. They are different from double majors in that they are singular interdisciplinary majors and therefore require less credits to complete.
