Throughout our nearly 50-year history of serving artists, community arts organizations, and state and local arts agencies, the Arts Extension Service has provided consulting – both formally and informally – to both individual artists and nonprofit organizations.
For Artists
Through the Arts Entrepreneurship Initiative consulting services, we help individual artists expand their businesses, polish their professional materials, and shape their marketing strategy. These one-on-one consultations will enable artists to share their unique needs in confidence and get feedback, ideas, and recommendations to move their business forward. In our experience consultations work best for established artists or established arts-based businesses.
Consultations may initially be held in person, with subsequent meetings held via video conference to limit the need for travel. The Arts Extension Service consulting team includes artists who have a proven track record of professional success.
For Nonprofit Arts Organizations
AES staff will help upper-level management (usually the Executive Director and Board Chair) explore their key issues or areas of concern, and will work to guide the organization via a series of recommendations. The one-on-one consultations will enable the Executive Director and/or Board Chair to share their unique needs in confidence and get feedback, ideas, and recommendations to move their organization forward. We will meet in person at our offices to learn about your needs and concerns. Follow-up meetings may be held at UMass, at your location (travel time is charged), or through video conference.
After our initial meetings, AES staff are available to provide trainings for the full board on Fundraising, Board Roles, and to explore other issues.
