Distinguished Professor Walter Denny will Chair the Met's Visiting Committee for the Department of Textile Conservation

UMass' Distinguished Professor of Art History, Walter Denny, has been closely involved with the Textile Conservation Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 11 years. Additionally, Denny served as Senior Scholar in Residence in the Department of Islamic Art at the Met from 2007 to 2017, contributing to the completion of the Museum's new galleries of the Arts of Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and later South Asia. Continuing his wonderful work for one of the world's largest art museums, Walter Denny will become the Chair of the newly-established Visiting Committee for the Department of Textile Conservation. The department is one of the most comprehensive facilities of its kind, employing world-class conservators and working in a state of the art facility.
