Associate Professor Karen Kurczynski has been awarded the College Outstanding Teaching Award for 2019-2020 and the Office of Faculty Development Mutual Mentoring Award for 2020-2021.
The College Outstanding Teaching Award (COTA) recognizes excellence in teaching and honors individual faculty members at each of the university’s colleges for their instructional accomplishments. The COTA was instituted as a complement to the campus-wide Distinguished Teaching Award. The COTA program is administered by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the individual colleges.
The OFD Mutual Mentoring Team and Micro Grant Awards encourage faculty to develop robust professional mentoring networks that support their growth as researchers, teachers, and leaders in their fields. Professor Kurczynski has received a Mutual Mentoring Micro Grant, for organizing a faculty seminar with contemporary art historians at Brandeis University to discuss scope and research methods for a book addressing the connections of race and politics in contemporary art.
