UMass Associate Professor Jeff Kasper invites community to SCMA exhibition "Don't Mind If I Do"
UMass Associate Professor & Undergraduate Program Director Jeff Kasper invites the UMass community to the inclusive and socially engaged exhibition Don't Mind If I Do. The exhibition, happening from January 30th, 2026 to June 28th, 2026 at the Smith College Museum of Art (SCMA), will also include artist-led workshops and other supplemental activities. From the press release:
"Smith College Museum of Art (SCMA) presents Don’t mind if I do, a collaborative experiment that shows how temporary shifts in power can create real pathways of access for visitors, artists, and staff. The project begins with artist Finnegan Shannon’s longtime “access fantasy,” an exhibition that would meet their disability access needs. At its center is a custom conveyor belt that carries artworks directly to visitors seated on an inviting mix of comfortable chairs and sofas. Pillows and blankets encourage longer stays and a slower pace. DIY air purifiers quietly clean the air. Day clocks offer a gentle orientation to time.
This iteration of the project features work by artists Finnegan Shannon, Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo, Pelenakeke Brown, Sky Cubacub, Emilie L. Gossiaux, Felicia Griffin, and Jeff Kasper. Curated by Lauren Leving."
