The UMass Studio Art Department invites the public to Adeyemi Adebayo's MFA Thesis Exhibition Mutating Origins: Collapsing of the Here and There.
As Adebayo states: "In this body of work, I combine oral histories with photography and text installation in documentary and conceptual formats. I examine migration as affected by tensions of departure, integration, and return, and as it shapes identity, memory, belonging, and materiality. I ponder on what’s left behind and what’s carried, transformed, or recontextualized across borders."
