Bernice Massé Rosenthal: Collage/Assemblage

February 17 - March 3, 2019

Opening Reception: Sunday, February 17, 2 pm - 4 pm

Rosenthal’s work, comprised primarily of wood assemblages, some painted, others natural, include both free-standing and wall sculptures. Her intent is to engage the viewer by introducing kinetic possibilities and by making two or three-part pieces that can be rearranged.

Artist Statement:

I am a sculptor of assemblages and a seasoned recycler working mainly in wood, but also paper collage. Finding curious discarded pieces is the grist for my art mill and the inspiration for new creations. I view my process as a form of re-incarnation. Each piece has a voice that sometimes speaks to me quickly or may take months before the "eureka" moment happens. My intent is to engage the viewer by introducing kinetic possibilities by making two or three-part pieces that can be rearranged.
