BFA Thesis Projects:

Students interested in Art 402-BFA Thesis Project (6cr) should meet with a full-time faculty member in the department to discuss a project proposal at the beginning of their final year. Written proposals must be submitted to the department office by the fourth week of the semester. If approved, students will be enrolled in Art 402 for the following semester; this 6 credit course will count toward the Studio Electives requirement.

Notes:

  • While there is a recommended sequence of classes for the various disciplines, students are encouraged to diversify their educational experience through elective courses.
  • Before enrolling in Art 401, students must complete Art 370 Junior Year Writing, and 3 of the 4 Art History requirements (Option I or Option II).
  • Department Independent Study and Practicum credits (e.g. internships) must be arts-related, sponsored by full-time department faculty, and approved by the Undergraduate Program Director. Art majors can take a maximum of 12 Independent Study and/or Practicum credits toward degree requirements.
  • GPA in Art and Art History Courses must be 2.0 or above in order to fulfill department degree requirements.
