COMPLETE MANDATORY TRAINING

  • Every student must pass certified training through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety before moving into assigned studio space.

TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS:

  • If you have an emergency, please call UMass Police from a landline at 545-3111, or 911 (Northampton Police will answer), or the Physical Plant Help Desk for building emergencies, at 545-6401.
  • Studios and technical shops are to be used only for art practice.
  • Students may not sleep overnight in studios.
  • Students may not share or reassign studios.
  • Only individuals with authorized card access may use the facility after regular after-hours.
  • In fairness to the many students seeking limited studio space, students are expected to use their studios on a regular basis. Unused or underused studios will be reassigned.
  • Personal electrical appliances-such as portable heaters, refrigerators, and hot plates—are not permitted in studios and will be confiscated.
  • EATING IS NOT PERMITTED IN STUDIOS.
  • Smoking, consumption of alcoholic beverages, and illegal drug use is prohibited.
  • No Pets.
  • Damages to or theft of artwork and/or personal property is not the responsibility of the University of Massachusetts or the Department of Art.
  • Studios are the property of UMass and the Department of Art and may be inspected at any time for emergency maintenance, repair or as needed by the Department.
