On view September 19, 2025–March 22, 2026 at SCMA
Curated by undergraduates in Prof. Monika Schmitter’s Curating Views of Venice course, this new SCMA exhibition looks at Venice through 18th–21st-century prints, photographs, drawings, and paintings drawn from the Five College collections—foregrounding water, reflection, and everyday life alongside the iconic Venetian views. Read the HFA coverage by student journalist, Chloe Borgida '25: Venice Captured in Art and History of Art & Architecture Students Unveil “A City in Flux”.
You can also watch the October 15 lunch-hour member talk, “Behind the Scenes of A City in Flux,” with Danielle Carrabino (Curator of Painting and Sculpting at SCMA) and Prof. Monika Schmitter (Event Page | Recording)—an overview of the Five Colleges collaboration and curation process. For the exhibition and works on view, see the Exhibition Checklist (PDF).
The exhibition is also featured by arts outlets and event calendars, including Northampton Live, ArtsBoston, Visit Hampshire County, MutualArt, and Explore Western Mass.
