This two-day symposium will feature student research from the History of Art & Architecture seminar “Building (In)equality: Gender Troubles in Enlightenment Architecture” taught by Visiting Professor Demetra Vogiatzaki. The presentations will explore themes of space, politics, and gender using critical intersectional theories to consider the many ways in which architecture and the built environment have expressed and/or actuated gender difference, emancipation, or inequality across various historical periods.

All are welcome to attend, offer feedback, and celebrate the work of our students as they challenge traditional narratives in architectural history.

Monday, May 6, and Wednesday, May 8. 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Contact/information: Prof. Vogiatzaki dvogiatzaki@umass.edu
