Welcome to Strategic Planning at UMass Amherst. This site provides information on our ongoing and past strategic planning processes as well as on the groups providing campus-level review of planning.
Beginning in the fall of 2017, the campus reviewed its existing strategic plan and began the process of developing a plan for the next five years. The final plan, as well as information and documents relating to the planning process, may be viewed on this page.
In October of 2018, the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, NEASC) undertook its mandated ten-year comprehensive evaluation of UMass Amherst, resulting in the continuation of the university's accreditation for another ten years. The self-study prepared for this process, along with information on the site visit and previous accreditation documents, is accessible on this page.
Each year, all academic departments, schools/colleges, and administrative and support units review their priorities and update their plans and budget requests for the following year. Outcomes of previous processes (strategic investments), departmental data, and guidelines and documents pertaining to past planning and budgeting processes may be accessed here.
Campus Planning and Resource Committee
The Campus Planning and Resource Committee (CPARC) is a joint committee of faculty, student representatives, and administrators that provides review and advice to the Chancellor regarding the campus's planning and resource allocation processes.
