Drawing upon evidenced-based design guidelines regarding autism-aware and biophilic design, this thesis proposes a community-based model that ultimately promotes independence and alleviates co-morbid symptoms for its residents as well as enhance connections within families and the larger community.By considering both the vernacular and organic features of Salem, MA and sensory zoning at multiple scales, the design is able to uniquely fit within its context and address the wide range of needs for its residents.
