The Department of Architecture offers two 4-credit introductory studios—Arch 100 and 101—to Boston Public School students and recent alumni. The studios are offered in partnership with Digital Ready, a Boston-based nonprofit that builds STEM-focused academic and job market pathways for underrepresented students.
Since 2021, approximately 60 students have taken these studios that introduce the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning. The department hopes to expand these offerings to include a complete 2-year curriculum that can be transferred to UMass Amherst or similar institutions.
